Bridal Attire

One of the most important decisions, and often the first, that a bride has to make, is choosing a gown. It can also be the most difficult choice to make, as there are literally endless styles. The bridal attire sets the style and mood of the celebration, so the size and location of the gathering should be considered. A more casual gathering of sixty people in a park setting would indicate a simple gown perhaps with a puddle train as opposed to an ornate gown with a large and sometimes cumbersome train. A large church wedding will have your guests anticipating a grand entrance of the bride with a bridal gown to suit a more formal exchange of vows and a sophisticated venue for the reception.

The most important consideration is, does the gown suit the bride? Is it 'figure flattering' and does she feel it suits her personality? An experienced sales associate will have no trouble selecting gowns that will enhance the bride to be's figure and assets, and downplay those parts that she may be self-conscious about. Price range is also a consideration for those that are budget minded. Serious thought must be put into your gown as you will be photographed more on this day than any other day of your life but it will be worn only once. Many brides are looking for ways to use their money wisely by purchasing discontinued samples, or even gowns that have been 'gently used' and are being offered at a quarter of the price of ordered gowns with no wait time.

When first starting out at the bridal salons, do not be afraid to try on a large variety of gowns. Most brides start out with something in mind only to be pleasantly surprised when they find the style that suits them is quite different. It is a process of elimination that is an important part of selecting a gown. Also, take along one person whose opinion that you trust. If you travel with several persons in the bridal party, the varying opinions tend to confuse the decision making process and cause the bride to stop trusting her first instincts. Remember that it is your wedding and you know how you feel. If you can get the choice down to two or three you will have a much better chance of making the choice that is right for you. When the choice is made stop looking and do not second-guess yourself. You have chosen the gown that makes your eyes sparkle and now... onto the accessories.
